God has revealed Himself to all
– plainly in His creation, clearly in the Bible, and supremely in
Jesus Christ.
The Bible is the inerrant Word of God
– fully inspired by God, revealed for our
clear understanding, and given without error in its original. While
no translation of the Bible can be perfect, the widely accepted
Bible translations today – in many languages -- can be used by God
to bring the fullness of His message and call to everyone.
The Bible reveals the existence
of one God.
Impossible for the human mind to grasp, God is there also
revealed as being Trinity, three persons in one: Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit. For God to be in personal relationship with us -- and
still to be independent of us and not needing us for relationship --
His being in relationship must be completely fulfilled first within
Himself. That is, He must be more than one person and yet be only
one God. If God were not plurality within Himself, He could not be
in true personal relationship with us without needing us for
relationship. A “god” who needs us for any kind of relationship
cannot be truly God. Yet a “god” who cannot be in personal loving
relationship with us can only be a tyrant or dictator to be
fearfully obeyed.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God -- the person of God who came into human history and
became a man, wholly God and wholly man. He came to most personally
and directly reveal the love of God for all. (He is the Son
since His love relationship with God the Father is like the love
between a father and a son.) He came as a man only after God
had already revealed Himself by creating human beings in His own
image of personality, by speaking to us in human languages through
the prophets of the Bible, by acting in judgment through the events
of human history, and by coming into all cultures of the world with
natural revelations of Himself.
Disregard for the love and will of
God has separated everyone from Him.
From the earliest age, each person tends to go his or her own way,
to do his or her own will, regardless of God’s good and best way for
them. As a result, all fall short of God’s holy and perfect
standards. Result: A radical separation from God, a radical break
in personal relationship with Him, and an infinite cost for us being
separated from the very source of spiritual life – the cost of
eternal separation in death.
The Bible reveals that, one day,
there shall be a bodily resurrection
of all persons who have ever lived. Human life, each person
He has created, is so infinitely valuable to God! At that time, we
will all appear before Him to receive the consequence of having
today either rejected or accepted what He has done and offered each
of us in Jesus Christ, His Son.
Yet today, God has provided a way back to Him
– the way of reconciliation with Him through
the death penalty already paid by Jesus Christ for the sins of each
man and woman. On the Cross, He paid that cost for each one and in
our place. But death could not hold Him since He, Himself, is
sinless. Having paid for our sins, He rose alive from the grave --
rising in victory over all evil, over all sin, and over death
itself. He offers that victory to us now! His resurrection most
evidently reveals Him as being the Person of God who became a man.
God’s Holy Spirit can now freely come, freely
offer and freely give the gift of eternal life – a new quality and fullness of life –
to each person who turns away from their sins and accepts by faith
(not by personal merit or effort) the sacrifice paid by Christ
personally for them and in their place on the Cross. A gift to be
received in simple, sincere prayer! Christ said, “I have come that
they may have life and have it to the full!”
The church of Jesus Christ is the
fellowship of men and women who, by God’s grace alone, have trusted in His love for them
and who have freely received His gift of Christ’s new life. The
church is not a building or an institution but a people who know the
presence of Christ in their midst, who have a purpose in living His
life together in the world today, and who rejoice in the privilege
of seeking Him personally, freely and directly in prayer.
Jesus Christ has promised to return
and to fully establish His Kingdom of peace on earth. While no one
knows the time of His coming, He told his followers that, before He
appears again, His “good news” will have been proclaimed in the
whole world, for all nations. He indicated that while this may take
a long time, His coming is always imminent. Therefore, it is our
joy to freely share His “good news” with all who would freely hear
and freely receive. Likewise, we rejoice to demonstrate His “good
news” in the way we live and serve others. The coming of Christ is
in the future, but the living of the Christian life to serve others
is here and now! We live both for tomorrow and for today.
